An approved medicine, with an individual decision
Tepezza inhibits the insulin-like growth factor-1 receptor pathway. A label indication describes the approved use; it does not establish that everyone with TED needs this medicine. Your specialist should explain the particular problem treatment is intended to address and the other options relevant to your situation.
Ask what findings support the proposed plan, which changes the team expects to follow, and what a reasonable response would mean for your everyday life. The treatment overview covers supportive care, anti-inflammatory medicines and surgery as well as biologic infusions.

Understand the whole visit, not only infusion time
The label schedule is eight infusions, every three weeks. The first two take at least 90 minutes each; later infusions may take at least 60 minutes if well tolerated. A clinic visit can take longer because of preparation, checks and observation, and circumstances may change the plan.
At three-week intervals, a mathematical illustration places planned visits at weeks 0, 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18 and 21. This is not your personal calendar. The last scheduled infusion at week 21 is different from a week-24 trial assessment. Ask the team to confirm your appointments and the follow-up period.

Side effects and monitoring belong in the decision
The current label includes warnings about hearing impairment, including loss that may be severe or permanent; infusion reactions; inflammatory bowel disease; high blood glucose; and encephalopathy. Hearing should be assessed before, during and after treatment. This is a selected safety summary, not the full label or a list of every side effect.
The September 2026 warning describes encephalopathy, a serious problem affecting brain function. Ask the team to explain concerning signs and symptoms and the instruction to seek immediate medical attention. Read the current prescribing information with the team.
Tell the prescriber about hearing problems, diabetes or high blood sugar, bowel disease, all medicines, and pregnancy or breastfeeding plans. The label advises contraception during treatment and for six months after the last dose for women who can become pregnant. Your clinician should explain the plan relevant to you.

Before scheduling, know who arranges what
- Who arranges hearing assessment and blood-sugar checks?
- Which changes mean I should call the same day or seek emergency care?
- Where will infusions happen, and how long should I allow?
- What will be assessed during and after treatment?
- What happens if side effects or response change the plan?
- Who verifies authorization, network status, and the itemized written estimate?
Separate the treatment decision from a cost assumption
Insurance benefit rules, infusion site and patient cost-sharing all matter. A published drug price is not a personal bill. Use the cost and insurance worksheet to ask for benefits verification and a written estimate covering medicine, administration and monitoring.
