Lumvoa is the brand name for veligrotug-vvze, a prescription IV medicine approved for TED in the United States on June 26, 2026. Its label covers TED regardless of activity or duration. A new option still needs an individual benefit-and-risk discussion.

  2. Planned seriesFive infusions at three-week intervals; clinic supplies actual dates.
  3. During and afterwardFollow the monitoring and response plan.

Two names for the same medicine

You may encounter Lumvoa, veligrotug, or the full generic name veligrotug-vvze when reading about treatment. Lumvoa is not a generic version or biosimilar version of Tepezza. They are different medicines that act on the insulin-like growth factor-1 receptor pathway.

Approval establishes a labeled use; it does not make the newest medicine the best choice for every person. Ask why the specialist is considering this option for your examination, health history and goals. Not everyone with TED needs a biologic infusion.

Five infusions still require a full care plan

The label schedule is five infusions, every three weeks, given over 30 to 45 minutes. A mathematical illustration of those intervals places visits at weeks 0, 3, 6, 9 and 12. Your team supplies the actual appointment dates and may need to adjust the plan.

Allow for more than the infusion itself. Travel, preparation, clinical checks and observation can add time. Ask where the drug will be given, whom to contact about scheduling, which assessments happen before the first visit, and when response and side effects will be reviewed afterward.

Ask about hearing, glucose, bowel disease and pregnancy

The label warns about infusion reactions, inflammatory bowel disease, high blood glucose and hearing impairment that can be severe or permanent. Hearing needs assessment before, during and after treatment. Read the full prescribing information with your care team; this guide does not list every adverse effect or precaution.

Tell the team about existing hearing changes, diabetes or high glucose, bowel disease, medicines, and pregnancy or breastfeeding plans. The label advises contraception during treatment and for six months after the last dose for women who can become pregnant. Ask your clinician to explain the personal plan and which changes require urgent attention.

Convenience and clinical benefit are different questions

A shorter series or shorter infusion time may matter to your travel and work plans. These label summaries do not establish that one medicine works better or is safer for you; separate studies enrolled different people and used different designs. A matching warning heading, or the absence of one, also cannot rank overall safety.

Use the comparison checklist to discuss the problem treatment should address, the monitoring burden, practical visits and alternatives. Ask what would prompt a change of plan and which concerns may need another form of care.

Confirm the actual access pathway

Do not assume that a clinic offers Lumvoa because it treats TED or administers another infusion. The public-source directory has not established Lumvoa availability for any listed entry. Ask the practice directly about the drug, site, referral and coverage process.

  • Who checks the exact plan policy and submits authorization?
  • Are both the prescriber and infusion site in network?
  • What written estimate covers the full course and monitoring?
  • Does any assistance apply to my insurance category, and what are its current limits?
